How to use

Start with MyGalaxy in two minutes

Simple steps for everything you need: from your first message to calls, groups and keeping your account safe.

Get MyGalaxy

Use whichever is easiest. It is the same account everywhere.

  • Android: install MyGalaxy from Google Play.
  • Computer or any phone: open app.mygalaxy.global in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Nothing to install.
  • iPhone: the App Store app follows. Until then, use MyGalaxy in Safari.

Create your account

  1. Tap Create a new account.
  2. Choose a 6-digit PIN and type it again. You use it to sign in and to unlock the app. Do not use your bank PIN or your birthday.
  3. Write down your 12-word recovery phrase on paper and keep it somewhere safe. Never send it to anyone, not even to us. It is the only way back into your account if you forget your PIN.
  4. Choose your username, for example @sara_london. People find you by it. You can add a name and photo in Settings.

Start a chat

  1. On the Chats tab, tap the round + button.
  2. Type the other person's @username and tap their name.
  3. Type your message and tap Send. One grey tick: sent. Two grey ticks: delivered. Two blue ticks: read.

Press and hold a message to reply, react, edit, forward, pin or delete it. Swipe a message to the right to reply quickly.

Send photos, files and voice notes

  • Tap the paper clip to send photos, files, a contact or your location.
  • Hold the microphone to record a voice note. You can pause, listen and delete before sending.
  • Photos can be turned or made into a sticker before sending.

Make a voice or video call

  • Open a chat and tap the phone (voice) or camera (video) button at the top.
  • During a call you can mute, turn your camera on or off, switch camera, or share your screen from a computer.
  • In a group, tap the call button for a group call, or make a call link to share.

Groups and channels

  • Tap + then New group, choose people, then give the group a name and photo.
  • Share an invite link or QR code. Admins can approve join requests, add topics, polls and events.
  • A channel lets you post to many subscribers. Tap + then New channel.

Status

  • On the Updates tab, post a text, photo or voice status for 24 hours.
  • Choose who sees it: your contacts or only close friends.

Use MyGalaxy on another device

  1. Open MyGalaxy on the new phone or computer.
  2. Tap Sign in and enter your username and PIN. Your chats appear on the new device.
  3. See and log out your devices any time in Settings → Logged-in devices.

Keep your account safe

  • Turn on two-step verification and app lock in Settings.
  • Open a person's profile and tap Verify security code. If the code is the same on both phones, nobody is in between.
  • Choose who sees your photo, About, last seen and read receipts in Settings → Profile & privacy.
  • MyGalaxy staff will never ask for your PIN or your 12 words.

Report or block someone

  • Open the chat, group or channel, tap ⋮ and choose Report or Block.
  • Our team reviews every report. More in Safety and reporting.

Download your data or delete your account

  • Settings → Profile & privacy → Download my data gives you a copy of your data.
  • Settings → Delete my account (at the bottom). See Delete your account.
